2010: Nathans Named All-MAAC Second Team; Hajjar Named MAAC Rookie Of The Year
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University’s Anthony Hajjar (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named the 2010 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Baseball Rookie of the Year while junior Tucker Nathans (Warwick, N.J.) earned a spot on the All-MAAC Second Team.
Nathans started in all 50 games at second base for the Stags in 2010, hitting .357 with 75 hits. He led the team in RBI (50) and doubles (22) both one shy of the single season record. He also had seven home runs and two doubles, a .581 slugging percentage, and 10 stolen bases. Nathans set the single game record for RBI, driving in nine at Hartford on March 25. Nathans, who has appeared in all 146 games since his arrival in 2008, has started 133 consecutive games and is a career .354 hitter. With his offensive output this season, he’s shot up Fairfield’s career charts and stands third all-time in hits (201), 28 away from the career record; third in doubles (45), fourth in RBI (120), tied for seventh in triples (7), and will crack the top-10 in runs scored next season.
